HUGE WWE Saudi Arabia Update: Crown Jewel PPV Announced, World Cup

In news that will surprise absolutely nobody, WWE are returning to Saudi Arabia with the Crown Jewel pay-per-view on Friday 2 November.

Per the company’s official release, the event will take place in the 67,000-capacity King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, and will be available on pay-per-view outside of the Middle East, as well as streaming live on the WWE Network.

A Universal Title Triple Threat between Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Brock Lesnar is the only match to be announced thus far. Shawn Michaels and Triple H vs. The Undertaker and Kane has been rumoured, and with Kane and HBK now set to accompany their respective allies at Super Show-Down (6 October), the speculation is intensifying.

On top of all this, WWE have confirmed that their first ever World Cup tournament will “determine the best in the world” at Crown Jewel. The release offers no specific details on this competition, though it will presumably draw a number of international stars from WWE’s vast talent pool, with the victor awarded a trinket similar to Strowman’s green Greatest Royal Rumble belt.

Will Crown Jewel follow the GRR’s lead as a glorified house show? Probably, but the World Cup sounds fun…
